Arcadis partnered with the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency and TNL Group in the Mission Bay community to prove how a technology stack of hardware and software can be used to greatly improve how people move through a large city. We created a real-time virtual representation of traffic using LiDAR technology and other sensors and showed how we can control and optimize traffic flows across 11 intersections along one of San Francisco’s busiest corridors.
As a result, the Connected Corridor Proof of Concept demonstrates that we can increase transit speeds by well over 20% while reducing near-miss events, public transit delays and idling time in cities around the world.
