The challenge
Archroma is facing increasing demands from its customers to report on the carbon footprint of its products.
Archroma is facing increasing demands from its customers to report on the carbon footprint of its products.
Arcadis has developed a methodology for calculating the carbon footprint of Archroma’s product portfolio.
Archroma has a carbon footprint methodology aligned with TfS and GHG Protocol to meet customer requirements and can define its climate strategy more precisely.
Archroma, a global supplier of specialty chemicals used in high-quality textiles, paper, packaging, and coatings, sought expertise and support to better calculate and report the greenhouse gas emissions of the company (Corporate Carbon Footprint - CCF) and its products (Product Carbon Footprint - PCF) to support its climate strategy.
The Product Sustainability team at Arcadis supported Archroma in four key domains.
First, we developed a methodology and tool to calculate the carbon footprint of Archroma’s products. This development was based on a pilot of about ten products, following the guidelines of Together for Sustainability (TfS) and the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol.
Next, we co-developed a strategy to deploy carbon footprint calculations across Archroma’s entire product portfolio.
Archroma is now ready to implement two clear action plans to improve both the company’s emission calculations and the carbon footprint of its products.
But that’s not all. Our transparent approach ensures that our client gains substantial knowledge on both subjects, enabling them to communicate effectively about these topics both internally and externally. Additionally, they will be equipped to perform the necessary calculations in the future to meet their clients’ requirements.
