Arcadis wins Innovation Award at the RICS Awards 2019 Southeast Asia

Arcadis Singapore claims top prize for innovations in drones and data optimization. The use of drones and data supports the Singapore government’s drive for Integrated Digital Delivery and improves safety and efficiency in construction projects.

Arcadis Singapore won the 2019 Innovation award for its drone and data optimization capabilities that pushes the boundaries of façade inspections, road analysis, vessel volumetric analysis, and site and safety analysis.

The RICS Awards 2019 Southeast Asia showcases the most inspirational initiatives and developments in land, real estate, construction, and infrastructure. They celebrate the achievements and successes of RICS professionals and their impact on local communities across Southeast Asia.

Innovation Award

The innovation award recognizes teams engaged in developing innovative solutions using technology to sustain the profession for the future. They are assessed based on professional technical expertise, demonstration of diversity, measurable successes, best practices, and sustainability.

Arcadis’ innovations include the automation of detecting defects and deformations in roads, bridges, and facades through machine learning capabilities and drones. Arcadis also drives efficiencies in volumetric computations, site safety inspections, and progress monitoring while improving productivity and reporting.

In a land reclamation project, Arcadis helped a client streamline their processes by introducing a sustainable, faster and more cost-effective way of vessel volumetric analysis. Using drones, data could be gathered to generate point cloud models in post-processing for volumetric computation. This reduced fuel costs and improved health and safety as surveyors need not travel ashore and be exposed to risks associated with climbing pilot ladders and boarding vessels.

Tim Risbridger, Head of Singapore, commented on the win: "We are delighted to be recognized by RICS for this award. We are proud to support the government’s drive for Integrated Digital Delivery and to be able to work with clients and partners to push boundaries and explore new ways of working. We are committed to digitizing our services, and collaborating with partners and clients to drive innovation and greater efficiencies here in Singapore and across Asia.”
