Arcadis ranks in the top 5 for BIM Competition in Singapore

Arcadis Singapore finished in the top 5 of the 2019 Singapore BIM Quantity Surveying Competition hosted by Glodon Singapore and supported by the Singapore Institute of Surveyors and Valuers.

Team members Nurul Atiqah Binte Kamarulz and Lee Wan Theng joined the finals on 6 September which tested their modelling, accuracy and collaborative competencies. Arcadis was the only consultancy firm that placed in the Top 5.

The competition aims to promote Building Information Modelling (BIM) application for the Quantity Surveying profession in Singapore and lead greater BIM implementation and digitalization within Singapore’s built environment. In the earlier stages of the competition, teams were evaluated based on their BIM software competency and professional construction knowledge.

“The adoption of BIM is gradually transforming the Singapore construction industry and we are delighted to be in the finals, helping to pave the way towards greater BIM implementation and digitalization in the quantity surveying profession. At Arcadis, we are committed to achieving 100% BIM and a minimum level 2 BIM on all relevant projects. By taking part in such events, we are not just scaling technology, process and data capabilities in BIM but creating the right environment for the industry to realize the benefits of how built assets can be efficiently designed, constructed and operated with digital.” said Penny Murphy, Head of Digital Transformation, Asia at Arcadis.

Tim Risbridger, Head of Singapore, commented on their success: “Earlier this month, Minister for National Development, Mr Lawrence Wong’s speech at the IBEW opening ceremony commented that not all stakeholders are readily utilising BIM from start to finish. This is also our experience, that the industry in Asia has been relatively slow to adopt BIM compared to industry counterparts in Europe and North America. At Arcadis, we believe that adoption of BIM is key to raise productivity and efficiency in the built environment industry and this is why upskilling our people to embrace BIM and digital technology is a top priority for us.”
