Arcadis Hong Kong shortlisted for 'Sustainability Award' at the Dutch Chamber of Commerce Business Awards 2019

Arcadis Hong Kong was shortlisted for the ‘Sustainability Award’ at the Dutch Chamber of Commerce Business Awards Gala 2019 for its office relocation and workplace transformation. This is the second time the office relocation project has been acknowledged for sustainability, after receiving a Certificate of Excellence at the RICS Awards 2019.

  • Arcadis was recognized for its commitment to sustainability in its office relocation and workplace transformation program.
  • The Business Awards outlined ‘game changers’ in innovation, sustainability and social engagement.

The theme of the Business Awards Gala 2019 was Game Changers, which identified people and projects that are changing the game in their field. The high-profile event looks to bring together leading businesses and members of the Dutch community to celebrate their success.

Sustainability Award

In 2018, Arcadis Hong Kong underwent a major office relocation and workplace transformation program. At the heart of the move was sustainability, looking at three core pillars: a low impact workplace, people and well-being, and energy efficiency. Saving on electricity consumption, the launch of a paper reduction program, and engagement with local community were key factors for success.

Head of Hong Kong and Macau, Francis Au said: “This is the second acknowledgment for our office since we opened last year. It’s fantastic to have our hard work recognized, but it’s even more important to know that our core value of sustainability resonates with key organizations in the market and that we are doing everything we can to support our teams to develop.”

The office was designed to provide an engaging environment to encourage flexibility and greater collaboration in the way people work. It also looked at supporting the well-being of staff, which included wellness rooms, nursing mother facilities, recharge quiet zones and sit/stand desks to encourage more movement during the working day.

Chief Operating Officer for Arcadis Asia, Niek Niëns, commented on its overall impact on business operations: “The new office space was more than just a move; it was a catalyst for wider business transformation. It brought Arcadis Hong Kong’s business lines of Cost Management, Project and Program Management, Business Advisory and Design & Engineering, together, in a single location for the first time.”
