40-storey

Building

Arcadis was contracted to help develop the Menara Darussalam, a mixed-use development complex located in the golden triangle of Kuala Lumpur city centre. The client had specific requirements to develop a building that could host a 5-star international hotel and can achieve a Green Building Index (GBI) certified rating.

The Menara Darussalam is a 40-storey complex that integrates 13-levels of A-grade office and premier retail units. The design of the building achieved maximum use of the available floor space by placing the columns to the side of the building, allowing flexibility in its utilization. This design also enabled the building to optimize energy consumption and indoor environmental quality, grading it with a GBI certified rating.

Arcadis' role in the project included full management services throughout the who lifecycle of the project, including inception, planning, programming, procurement, tender, cost and contract management. With any project, changes to the scope of delivery are inherent, so the team needed to show flexibility to ensure that the outcome of the project was consistently managed against any changes required.

Outcomes and benefits:

• Awarded the Best Project Award (Building Project – Major from CIDB’s Malaysian Construction Industry Excellence Award 2013)

• Awarded GBI certified rating

• The project was completed with high standards and quality, with nominal defects reported during the handover stage
