Paris - Arcadis, the leading global design and consultancy firm for natural and built assets, announced today that it will be responsible for technical engineering of a new landmark at Paris’ left bank of the river Seine. The project, named Aurore (Sunrise), includes the construction of an iconic building situated between the National Library François Mitterrand and Station F, the biggest start-up incubator in the world.
Arcadis is part of a consortium including Compagnie de Phalsbourg, Station F, Architectes Kengo Kuma & Associates and Marchi Architectes.
Aurore’s design provides a mix of construction and nature. The building itself is composed of a wooden structure and shell. It will house in its central courtyard a garden (designed by the landscaper Horticulture et Jardins), open to all, which will be complemented by a number of planted and wooded areas at roof-terrace level, internal alcoves and a huge suspended footbridge.
The Aurore project is also truly multi-functional. It will house an ecological hotel of the T1 group, a 1000 m² indoor sports facility, as well as a luxury hostel of the Slo Living brand, a co-working café and last but not least a contemporary cabaret named “Chez Fellini”.
"Technically, “Aurore” will be a so-called bridge-building, because it will be built on top of the to-be-constructed railway coverings leading to the Gare d'Austerlitz", highlights Luc Jeansannetas, Head of building engineering at Arcadis France. "We are proud that our technical expertise helps improving the quality of life in the City of Light."
"The Aurore project has been a titanic effort on the part of our consortium, and was made possible by the talent and competitive spirit of the teams, worthy of the ambitious and extraordinary nature of the project", comments Philippe Journo, Chairman and founder of the Compagnie de Phalsbourg. "Like all our projects, Aurore illustrates our will to develop buildings and concepts that improve the environment and the well-being of the people who live there or pass through there, while meeting high architectural and ecological requirements.
