PERCENT OF THE UNITS WERE AVAILABLE ON THE OPENING DAYThe award-winning City Centre Mirdif reinforces Dubai’s role as an international retail destination, but it also takes its role as a trend-setter a step further. By pursuing LEED Gold certification, addressing local context and community, and incorporating comprehensive water resource and energy-saving strategies, the 230,000-SM center sets a high standard for future sustainable development in the area.
As the desert region’s first eco-friendly retail center, City Centre Mirdif proves that sustainable leadership, community relevance, and commercial success can easily go hand in hand.
Majid Al Futtaim Properties embarked on a new design and development project for City Centre Mirdif, a 196,000 m2 shopping mall in the area of Mirdif, Dubai. The shopping mall needed to reflect the quality and brand of all Majid Al Futtaim work whilst building over 475 stores, parking for more than 7,000 cars. The shopping center also had large areas for entertainment and leisure facilities including VOX Cinemas and Magic Planet and a host of family entertainment centers such as iFLY, a soccer circus and bowling area.
With Arcadis' full-service offering and international consulting team, the concept design was implemented by architects RTKL and the remaining work was carried out across our various capability project teams including cost and commercial management.
With careful procurement and value management, we delivered 20% savings to Majid Al Futtaim by adding two million square feet of revenue, generating space to the Dubai retail market. In addition, City Centre Mirdif was one of the first major developments in the UAE to be delivered on time and within budget whereby 75% of the units were available for trading on the opening day.
