The Amsterdam ROC

Amsterdam, The Netherlands - The Amsterdam ROC is further professionalizing its facility services by ensuring the performance of its property is more measurable and comparable and by proactively improving ‘asset performance’.

Property management

Amsterdam ROC has schools in Amsterdam, Amstelveen, Hoofddorp and Hilversum and invests in people to create bridges between work, society and further education. And of course such a living environment should be pleasant, safe and healthy. For over ten years, Amsterdam ROC successfully managed to keep accommodation costs within the limit of 9% of state allowances. But to remain within this limit, Amsterdam ROC aims to manage more accurately the performance of its property to ensure the continuing satisfaction of students and staff.

Added Value model

Using the Added Value model, Amsterdam ROC is gaining greater insight into the performance of its accommodations, the different perspectives and the possible policy options. The model supports discussions about the property portfolio or individual projects, prevents unnecessary investment and reveals areas where further optimization is possible. Managing using both reason and emotion Arcadis is identifying the performance of all teaching facilities using the Added Value model. These indicators are based not only on rational grounds, such as the cost of facility services, lump sum, property values, energy usage and physical safety. But they also factor in emotional values, such as user satisfaction, complaints, climate feel and social safety. Amsterdam ROC will use these insights to define the school's level of ambition, manage accommodation costs and coordinate this with user-perception criteria.

The ROC of Amsterdam, an attractive, safe and healthy learning environment.

Key Performance Indicators (KPI)

Before Amsterdam ROC can integrate the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), it must define which targets or ambitions the KPIs must meet and how the school should monitor this. The next step is to embed the desired performance into the operational structure of the facility services business. Defining the performance of all teaching facilities will allow Amsterdam ROC to monitor any policies it implements and compare the ambitions between all these locations. This in turn allows each location to compare its performance with others and work at further optimization on the basis of a solid foundation.
