France - Paris - Layout of public spaces
Centred around the symbolic building of Magasins Généraux now occupied by the advertising agency BETC, the designated development area at the Port in Pantin is a new quarter looking towards the Ourcq canal, bringing port activities, offices, shops, services and accommodation together – it embodies the "post-périphérique" culture.
Three hectares of quality public spaces where paved areas and tree-lined zones combine, offering integrated management of rain water, have been designed for what will be the new centre of the town of Pantin. Together with the grouping comprised of Atelier Jacqueline Osty & Associés (agent), Concepto and Biodiversita, Arcadis undertakes the full project management of the public space as well as several assistance and coordination assignments with the developer to deal with technical, numerous and complex interfaces in development projects.
The project management grouping has also proposed the layout of public spaces integrating certain elements and materials referencing the history of the site, such as the old cobblestones and rails. These have been recycled and developed for the new layout.
