Paris, France - Mille Arbres combines architecture and sustainable development in new ways to redevelop the landscape in the Pershing district.
Arcadis, the leading design and consultancy company, is pleased to announce that the Mille Arbres project, submitted by the company and its partners, has been selected by the City of Paris as part of the “Reinventing Paris/Réinventer Paris” campaign for the development of the Pershing district located near the Porte Maillot.
Launched a little less than a year ago by the City of Paris, the innovative and participatory campaign Réinventer Paris (“Reinventing Paris”) aims to identify and develop new urban planning projects. This campaign covers 23 sites in Paris. More than 600 projects have been submitted since the launch. Shortlisted projects have been developed further at the request of the jury, and were presented to them last week.
The “Mille Arbres” project, of which the structural aspects are coordinated by Arcadis, has been chosen for the modernization of the Pershing area near the Porte Maillot. This innovative and ambitious project is based on a multi-purpose structure that will expand the ring road around the city by creating a new urban connection. This dynamic structure will consist of housing, offices, shops, hotels and cultural facilities.
Mille Arbres is also distinguished from the other projects presented due to the roof of the building that will host the low energy density wooden housing and more than a thousand trees.
Luc Hellemans, Managing Director of Arcadis Europe South: “We are very pleased and honored that our Mille Arbres project has been adopted by the City of Paris as part of this exceptional and particularly ambitious campaign. With our partners, which include Rachdi OXO architects and Sou Fujimoto for the architecture, as well as La Compagnie de Phalsbourg and Ogic for the development, we look forward to starting this project. As the company responsible for the civil engineering, our role has been to develop a project for crossing the ring road around Paris. In addition, we worked closely with Bollinger & Grohman to design the structure of this exceptional building that will form a new distinctive landmark in the Paris landscape.”
The team assembled by Arcadis for the Mille Arbres project is as follows: La Compagnie de Phaslbourg, Ogic, Sou Fujimoto, Manal Rachdi OXO architectes, Arcadis, Bollinger & Grohmann, Moz Paysage, Lea, F.Boutté, JP Lamoureux, M.Forgue, La Maison Kangourou and CitizenM.
