A 10 km2 river park is planned along a tributary of the Yangtze, which will improve the city's recreational and ecological quality, but also water safety. The park is, so to speak, a water machine where water is first purified in artificial wetlands and subsequently stored, so clean water is available in dry times for all manner of urban uses. The park also contributes to increasing biodiversity and forms an ecological corridor across the urban area. Lastly, the park will contribute significantly to the city's image, since preserving tradition and sustainable development go hand in hand.
