Europe - Arcadis was commissioned to help Opel establish and run a successful Programme Management Office and regional delivery teams to achieve their ambition.
Opel is gaining market share and strengthening its brand. With a network of over 2,500 dealerships across 44 countries, they needed a professional approach to bring the network’s brand identity in-line with marketing and new product ranges, including new exterior signage, internal fit outs and cladding.
Arcadis was commissioned to help Opel establish and run a successful Programme Management Office and regional delivery teams to achieve their ambition. We established a European Programme Governance Framework, supported by a team of 35 people with previous European delivery experience across our operating countries that fed into Opel’s National Sales Companies (NSCs). Building on these strong relationships with the local NSCs resulted in requests for additional resource in key markets including Germany, France and Italy.
Working with a wide variety of dealer groups and suppliers to drive consistency across the portfolio, we adapted existing ‘ways of working’ and toolkits to improve efficiency and accelerate the programme, whilst also ‘flexing’ our teams to meet demand requirements when and where it was needed.
Part of our streamlined approach was to align three different project types into a single project to simplify on-site delivery and co-ordination for the dealers. We also supplied a slot booking system that aligned the network plan with the supply chain demand plan, driving efficiency improvements of improved supply chain efficiency, by reducing the need for supplier surveys by up to 65%.
Working closely with Opel to understand the lack of trust they had in their reported numbers, we delivered a web based project management tool to improve reporting, thus significantly increasing accuracy of and trust in the data.
