Rapid business growth led to the development of a new, 24,000 square meter, purpose-built global headquarters on the Macquarie University campus that includes 40 laboratories for advanced R&D, as well as capacity for assembly, packaging and global logistics.
Arcadis’ innovative engineering and sustainability expertise saw new approaches to heating and cooling, building flexibility, energy modelling, water and drainage services, and laboratory waste management.
We were involved in providing advice from concept to construction, and worked with our client to solve many strategically important issues to suit their complex manufacturing requirements.
Optioneering was important to the design process and the final selection of the HVAC strategy was to decentralize the plant for greater control and maximize the NLA of the building.
Environmental sustainable development was also key and Arcadis worked with Cochlear’s own ‘Green Team’ to achieve a 5-Star “NABERS” energy rating.
