Sydney, NSW, Australia - Central Precinct Renewal is a major urban renewal program in one of Sydney’s most connected sites. Central Precinct provides an exceptional opportunity to expand Sydney’s southern CBD (known as south Central Sydney) and create new place for business and the community by renewing 24 hectares of government-owned land.
The vision for Central Precinct is a vibrant and exciting place that unites a world-class transport interchange with innovation businesses and public spaces. It will connect the city at its boundaries, celebrate its heritage and become a centre for the jobs of the future and economic growth. To deliver this vision, Transport for NSW (TfNSW) has assembled a world-class team with the depth of knowledge, experience and expertise required to unlock the potential of Central Precinct and transform it into a destination in its own right.
Arcadis was selected to be a part of this world-class team and will draw on key learnings from previous major precinct projects such as London Bridge Station, Rotterdam Central Station and Federation Square (currently Australia’s only over rail deck) to provide innovative, global best practice engineering solutions. We will be supported by Thornton Tomasetti who provided engineering and construction services for the rail deck and over station structures for the recently opened Hudson Yards in New York, and Indec who have extensive knowledge of rail operations across Sydney.
Arcadis’ collaborative culture and approach in delivering recent Sydney Metro projects, such as the Underground Station Design and Technical Services package on City & Southwest, will be key to successfully delivering the optioneering and technical advisory services required for Central Precinct Renewal.
Working in partnership with TfNSW and the wider project team, Arcadis will provide engineering design services to inform the solutions being developed for the precinct. This will evolve into a broader masterplan to support the state significant precinct planning process. A key focus of the project team will be to inspire and engage the community, industry and stakeholders, and bring them along for the journey.
