The Medical Park at Prince Sultan Cultural Centre is a three million square feet healthcare campus that anchors the north end of the mixed-use development project in the western coastal city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

In 2014, Arcadis was commissioned to masterplan the Medical Park and provide design services for the Tertiary Care Hospital. The Park comprises a 400-bed general hospital, a 150-bed orthopedic hospital, an ambulatory care center, a diabetes center, a 200-bed long term care hospital, 150-bed rehabilitation hospital, dialysis center, an eye center; a regional laboratory, a central plant and parking garages.

The design of the Tertiary Care Hospital aims to promote healthy lifestyle choices among patients, staff and visitors alike, with public gathering spaces and healthy retail options. The plaza is covered by a grand canopy which provides essential shade from the city’s subtropical hot desert climate and provides a comfortable micro-climate transition between the conditioned spaces.

Food markets, healthy restaurants, fitness centers and health and beauty salons line the plaza, while sculptures, water features and gathering spaces help to create a varied and active environment that supports wellness.
