Australia NSW - Undertaking a comprehensive fit out in a high profile fully occupied CBD office has its challenges, particularly in terms of managing disruption to the existing tenants. Arcadis recently took on this challenge for the relocation of over 450 of its staff from the former HQ in North Sydney to 580 George St, in Sydney’s CBD. The challenge was further exacerbated by a fast-track program, major structural works, residential neighbours and an ongoing passenger lift upgrade placing emphasis on seamless collaboration between the contractor, landlord and material suppliers.

Arcadis could take this on, providing all aspects of project management, design and cost and commercial services in association with the relocation, completing the 4,200sqm fit-out within 12 weeks to meet the business’ requirements.

The inter-tenancy stair was a key feature of the project and sat on the critical path. The staircase was fabricated off-site and then needed to be sectioned to enable the stair to be delivered to site and then re-assembled in-situ. A mobile gantry allowed for construction on the stairs to be progressed in two directions in parallel.

The tensioned rods to the perimeter of the stairs were all installed insitu; inclusive of architectural finishes which also helped reduce the install time of the stair.  
Finally, our procurement strategy of procuring long lead FFE and lighting items direct facilitated a fast-track schedule without sacrificing quality of design.

All aspects of professional services were delivered in-house facilitating seamless collaboration throughout the design and delivery period, reducing decision timelines.

WMK Architecture were engaged on the project to assist Arcadis to create a physical translation of the company’s vision to be open, collaborative and progressive.  The fast tracked 14-week program for design and documentation helped deliver the resulting sophisticated and integrated working environment to support a higher quality of working life for staff, boost productivity, and facilitate a greater connectedness with internal teams and external consultants and clients.
