The DIT is the UK government department
responsible for helping businesses export and grow into global markets, as well as supporting overseas companies that are looking to locate and expand in the UK. With Brexit negotiations still ongoing, a key priority for the DIT is to drive and enable long-term prosperity with crucial trading partners across Europe, retaining the UK’s leading position as a prime business location for Foreign Direct Investment. In the last year alone, the DIT recorded 1,682 investment projects, with over 80,000 jobs either created or saved right across the country.
Since launching as a single brand in the UK in 2015, Arcadis has gone from strength-to-strength, now turning over more than EUR 3.2 billion in global annual revenue every year. In the UK, the business has seen positive year-on-year organic growth, with big wins in areas such as High Speed 2 and Digital Rail further boosting revenues.
Employing 4,500 people around the UK, Arcadis has supported the delivery of some of the UK’s most successful projects. This includes the redevelopment of London Bridge Station, as well as helping to improve the supply of renewable energy in Scotland and delivering world class education and research facilities at universities like UCL and The University of Manchester.
Commenting on Arcadis’ award win, Peter Wilson, British Ambassador to the Netherlands, said:
“I would like to warmly congratulate Arcadis on being awarded the Department for International Trade Investment Award, for their strong expansion in the UK. My team and I have been working closely with Arcadis for many years and are delighted at their continued passion and enthusiasm for the opportunity that the UK presents.”
Mark Coward, UK CEO of Arcadis, added:
“As the fifth largest global economy, the UK boasts one of the most supportive and stable business environments in the world. With a relatively low tax burden and one of the strongest R&D environments in Europe, there are some clear opportunities for international investment. For Arcadis, there is huge ongoing growth potential in the UK, not just in markets like infrastructure, utilities or commercial development, but also in terms of exploiting new capabilities that come from rapidly evolving digital technologies, like automation and precision manufacturing. As a global brand, our international reach, resources and expertise, combined with a strong local footprint and on-the-ground knowledge means that we can continue to offer our clients - and most importantly their consumers - the very best solutions, maintaining UK growth momentum long into the future.”
