Arcadis named 2025 ENR New York Design Firm of the Year

Recognition underscores Arcadis’s work throughout New York State

New York, NY – May 8, 2025 – Arcadis, a global leader in intelligence-driven sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions for natural and built assets, has been named the 2025 ENR New York Design Firm of the Year by the Engineering News-Record (ENR). The recognition highlights Arcadis’s long-standing business presence and success in New York State from both a growth and revenue standpoint, as well as its contributions to transformative infrastructure projects and its commitment to community engagement across the region.

Arcadis was selected from a competitive slate of finalists. Among the factors that differentiated Arcadis were the following:

  • Involvement in some of New York’s most ambitious and high-profile projects bringing investment to the region. This includes but is not limited to the Battery Park Climate Resilience initiatives, NanoTech Complex, and the Fifth Avenue Corridor redesign. These projects reflect Arcadis’s commitment to innovation and future-proof design, as well as its dedication to addressing some of the most pressing infrastructure concerns in the region, from climate adaptation to sustainable transportation and design of advanced technology facilities.
  • Long-term tenure, scale of revenue, and involvement in the professional community throughout New York State. The company has been physically present in New York for over 100 years and is an active member of numerous industry groups including the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York, the Urban Land Institute-New York, Urban Design Forum, Women’s Transportation Seminar, and the Regional Plan Association.
  • Demonstrated commitment to community engagement across the state through philanthropic and volunteer initiatives. Arcadis team members don’t just work on projects in the state, they are part of the community themselves and champion participation in programs such as the Toys for Tots Holiday Fundraiser, supporting the Cycle for Survival campaign, and participating annually in the JPMorgan Corporate Challenge, an event that raises proceeds for local charities. Our local team also takes advantage of support from Arcadis programs such as Local Sparks, which allows employees to engage in pro-bono community projects that can create positive community impact. In New York, this has enabled the mentoring of students in math, science and engineering, inspiring them to transform the world for the better. These efforts resulted in programs like the Pathways to Engineering initiative at the University at Buffalo and partnerships with Syracuse University and the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse.

John M. McCarthy, North America President for Arcadis, said: “We are honored to be named ENR New York Design Firm of the Year. New York is a place where innovation, resilience, and community come together in extraordinary ways, and we are proud to have played a role across the state. From strengthening climate resilience in Battery Park to reimagining world-class streetscapes on Fifth Avenue and expanding the Albany NanoTech Complex, our work reflects the passion and expertise of our teams. This recognition reinforces our commitment to creating sustainable solutions that improve quality of life for all New Yorkers.
