Arcadis, a global leader in design and consultancy for natural and built assets, announced today that Bruce Risley, Senior Vice President and Public Sector Market Leader for Arcadis’ Places business in North America, has been selected for induction into the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) College of Fellows Class of 2023, one of the highest honors a member of the construction project management industry can receive.
Risley has been with Arcadis for more than 24 years. In his role, he focuses on the continued growth of Arcadis’ public sector practice to take full advantage of the company’s capabilities locally, nationally and across global business areas. Previously, he provided operations leadership to the 50-person Places West Program Management group. His construction industry experience includes program and project management on several of the nation’s largest bond-funded capital improvement programs.
A member of CMAA since 2001, Risley has held multiple leadership roles within the association culminating with Southern California (SoCal) Chapter President in 2016. At the end of his term as President, the SoCal Chapter was awarded Chapter of the Year. Risley next served as a Director on CMAA’s National Board of Directors, and last year completed his second three-year term. He currently serves on the SoCal Chapter’s Foundation Board, where he chairs the fundraising committee.
Risley has been active on various CMAA committees and task forces, a frequent presenter at the organization’s annual conference and juror for national competitions. In 2011, he authored a section on program management for CMAA's Owner's Guide to Construction and Program Management. He received the CMAA Chairman’s Award Certificate for his contributions to the publication.
“It is a great honor for me to be inducted into the College of Fellows by CMAA,” Risley said. “CMAA has provided me with over 20 years of learning, networking, relationship building, leadership development and personal and professional growth. Because I have received so much from CMAA and the profession, I truly enjoy giving back to the association, its members and the students we support through our foundations to become future members of the profession and the association.”
The induction ceremony will take place in Washington, D.C. in October during the CMAA2023 National Conference.
