Science Channel features L.A.’s Metro Regional Connector megaproject as part of “Building Giants” series

On May 13, the Science Channel featured Los Angeles’ largest construction project ever as part of its series “Building Giants.” Using cutting-edge technology and the latest construction methods, the team of engineers responsible for the Metro Regional Connector megaproject are tasked with building durable, earthquake-proof subway lines underneath Los Angeles.

When complete, the Metro Regional Connector will feature a 1.9-mile light-rail system designed to improve mobility in downtown Los Angeles. The Regional Connector is a key part of Metro’s Twenty-Eight by ’28 Initiative, a highlighted list of transit and mobility projects for potential completion by the 2028 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games.

L.A. Metro selected Arcadis’ construction management team to support construction of the Regional Connector in 2016. In summer 2019, Arcadis helped complete the largest, and deepest, tunneled cavern in Los Angeles as part of the Metro Regional Connector project and continues to work with the city on reaching their sustainable, equitable mobility goals.
