The challenge

Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) have faced historical reliability challenges related to new timetables and total fleet renewal. This was mainly due to having multiple legacy systems that did not communicate with each other and were incompatible with other IT system elements.

GTR felt it was time that they needed to unlock the potential of their data and make it compatible with other data processing systems to improve their operational efficiencies and improve their timetable reliability and fleet management operations.

The solution

Arcadis was selected to undertake this major change for GTR, implementing Arcadis EAM solution across all four brands of GTR: Gatwick Express, Great Northern, Southern, and Thameslink. This project consolidated a number of those legacy systems in EAM.

To implement this, we worked on-site with the core GTR engineering, procurement, IT, and maintenance depot teams to ensure a successful roll-out of the new solution.

The implementation included:

• best-in-class business processes
• established asset hierarchies
• established asset hierarchies
• a mature suite of smart mobile apps for improved productivity
• hundreds of predefined reports for better decision making.

The impact

Arcadis EAM brought lasting benefits to GTR and its customers by improving rolling stock reliability and increasing business efficiency. In addition to the implementation of Arcadis EAM solution, we are providing hosting and support over the lifetime of the GTR franchise. Thanks to this partnership, we continue to bolster this project, further strengthened our relationship with GTR and will continue to support them on their journey to world class engineering asset management.
