The challenge
Edgbaston Masterplan is an ambitious project to transform Edgbaston stadium into a mixed-use destination with cricket and community at its core.
Building on the legacy of the city’s Commonwealth games, the aim is to combine elite sport, conferencing and events with community assets in order to improve health and social care, education, employment and social cohesion in the area.

The solution
Arcadis was chosen by Warwickshire County Cricket Club to serve as Project Managers, Employers Agents, and Consultants for Phase 3.1 of the Edgbaston Masterplan. This phase focused on the redevelopment of the Skyline West area in the Main Stand at Edgbaston Cricket Stadium. The primary objective of the project was to enhance the existing space by introducing fixed seating, a state-of-the-art commercial kitchen, renovated WC facilities, a DJ Booth, a striking Living Green Wall, and additional high-level hospitality space for the client. Given the imminent arrival of the 2023 Ashes series, a tight schedule was in place, leaving minimal room for any potential delays.
The impact
By successfully accomplishing the client's objective of enhancing their hospitality offerings ahead of a bustling Summer of cricket, we not only aided in boosting their revenue but also facilitated job creation at Edgbaston Stadium during matchdays. Moreover, this newly created space has become a sought-after venue for networking events and various functions, catering to a diverse range of groups beyond match days.
