August 1, 2025 – Arcadis, the leading global design and consultancy organization for natural and built assets, is proud to announce its appointment by the Welsh Government on the A483 Llandeilo project. This vital infrastructure project in West Wales aims to address traffic congestion and community severance in the historic town of Llandeilo, promising to enhance the quality of life for local residents.
Arcadis will provide comprehensive support to the Welsh Government throughout the project's lifecycle, from preliminary design through statutory processes like planning permission, and final construction. Supported by Mott MacDonald, Arcadis will also deliver technical assurance on highways, structures, geotechnical, and environmental aspects of the project.
Tim Driscoll, Wales Account Director at Arcadis said, "Arcadis is committed to delivering innovative solutions that not only improve public infrastructure but also enrich the communities we serve. This project on the A483 is a testament to our dedication to sustainable development and improving quality of life, and through leveraging our expertise for the Welsh Government, we aim to transform Llandeilo into a safer, more connected, and environmentally friendly town, paving the way for a vibrant future for its residents and businesses."
The project will divert heavy traffic away from the town centre, creating a safer, more pedestrian-friendly environment and promoting more sustainable travel modes. This improvement is expected to foster a healthier community atmosphere, reduce noise and air pollution, and enhance the overall wellbeing of residents.
The project will also stimulate local economies by enhancing transport links and reducing travel times. It is expected that by improving accessibility Llandeilo and its surrounding community will become more attractive to businesses and tourists, driving economic growth. The improved highway infrastructure will bolster local commerce and trade, creating new opportunities while fostering sustainable economic development.
Sustainability is at the core of the A483 project. By reducing congestion, the highway improvement will decrease vehicular emissions, contributing to a reduction in the town’s carbon footprint. The project aligns with Wales' broader environmental objectives and Arcadis' commitment to sustainable development. Designed to minimize ecological impacts during construction, it also preserves the region’s picturesque landscape, further improving quality of life for residents and visitors.
