Arcadis awarded Inland Rail Narrabri to North Star Design Services

Arcadis, the leading data driven global Design & Consultancy organisation for natural and built assets, has been awarded the Narrabri to North Star (Moree) Inland Rail Design Services package, reinforcing its reputation for delivering major rail projects across Australia.

ArcB Design JV, comprising Arcadis and BG&E, have been appointed by Inland Rail to deliver Preliminary Design Services for 23 kilometres of alignment between Tapscott Road, Moree and Camurra. This segment is the final missing link in the Narrabri to North Star section and is essential to unlocking faster, heavier and more efficient freight movement along this part of Inland Rail.

Arcadis brings a long-standing collaborative partnership and a proven track record of success in delivering complex infrastructure design. The joint venture’s seamless integration will enable rapid mobilisation, positioning ArcB Design JV to successfully deliver this critical milestone in the Inland Rail program.

Derek Millar, Business Leader - Civil Infrastructure QLD, at Arcadis said: “We’re thrilled to be delivering this important phase of this crucial project for Australia. Our role will provide Inland Rail with cost certainty, scope clarity and the community-backed approvals needed to progress this final segment of the N2NS corridor.

By shifting freight from road to rail, the Inland Rail Program will reduce emissions, enhance road safety and boost regional economies - helping build a more sustainable and connected Australia.

The Narrabri to North Star section involves upgrading 184 kilometres of existing rail corridor and constructing approximately two kilometres of new track near Moree, New South Wales. Spanning the local government areas of Narrabri, Gwydir and Moree Plains, the section is being delivered in two stages to allow construction to occur on approved areas while planning and environmental approvals are secured for the remainder.

The N2NS section forms part of the broader Inland Rail Program - one of Australia’s most significant infrastructure investments. The 1,600-kilometre freight rail line will connect Melbourne to Brisbane via regional Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland, transforming the movement of goods across Australia.

Inland Rail is set to reduce freight transit times, cut carbon emissions and create new economic opportunities for regional industries and communities.
