AMEX Lounge Scoops Excellence in Construction Award

It was an exciting night at the recent Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Greater Houston Awards Ceremony as the project team at American Express’ (AMEX) new Centurion Lounge at Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) came home with a 2016 Excellence in Construction Award.

The project won first place in the category of “Interior Construction”, and finished runner-up in ABC’s category of “Best of Houston.”

ABC is the nation's leading commercial and industrial construction trade association, representing 23,000 members nationwide

The winning construction team (pictured) included Turner Construction, PGAL and Arcadis.

The $7 million lounge, an 8,600 square-foot card member services lounge in Terminal D at IAH consists a high-end lounge with a world-class working, card services, dining and relaxing experience. Merging bold décor with a comfortable and modern feel, the lounge offers travel-related services such as airlines, hotels, restaurant reservations and even sports and entertainment tickets.

AMEX hired Arcadis as Owner’s Representative responsible for project management services for constructing the lounge, delivered one month ahead of schedule and 10% under anticipated budget.
