Time. There never seems to be enough of it on a construction project; with research suggesting over 55% of construction projects are delivered late. What happens if the contractor causes a delay to the project? What happens if the employer causes a delay to the project? What happens if they both cause delay to the project?

We are delighted to invite you to the second in our series of Arcadis Contract Solutions’ Events for 2017. This seminar will be looking at the latest developments in time and delay provisions within construction contracts.

Host

Gary Blackburn
of Arcadis will chair the seminar. He will open the evening's discussion with an address covering the background to the topic which underlies some of the current challenges that our guest speakers will be presenting on, including insights and practical tips from his own 27+ years of experience in the industry.

Guest Speakers

Katie Lee
of Hardwicke Chambers will present an overview of the recent case law applicable to delay provisions and claims in the construction industry, with a specific focus on extensions of time and concurrent delay.

Ebony Alleyne of Hardwicke Chambers will define best practice and highlight strengths and weaknesses that can arise in case preparation of delay claims, offering practical advice on seeking the views of expert witnesses and quantum.

The aim is that by the end of the seminar you will be confident in understanding the basics of time provisions in construction contracts, the principles of extensions of time and the impacts of concurrent delay and the Courts approach to assessing time and delays.

We anticipate this seminar will be of interest to solicitors, employers, contractors and professional consultants in the construction industry who may become involved in the preparation, requests for or defence of extension of time claims and who want to be up to speed with the latest legal and practical developments.
