Environmental, health, and safety (EHS) compliance services driving long-term business value

Environmental, health, and safety (EHS) compliance is more than just risk management. It supports environmental, social, and governance (ESG) disclosure, investor confidence, and effective financial oversight. Multinational corporations face growing complexity as regulations differ across jurisdictions and mandatory reporting requirements expand, including the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive and the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures. At Arcadis, we combine regulatory expertise with digital EHS technologies to reduce risk, enhance safety, and improve operational performance. Our approach spans the full asset lifecycle—from initial feasibility and permitting to long-term decommissioning—embedding compliance into day-to-day operations.

The risks of fragmented EHS compliance data

Many organizations struggle with data silos and fragmentation. Compliance, ESG, and operational EHS data are often stored separately, limiting visibility and hindering actionable decision-making. As a result, teams spend valuable time reconciling information instead of acting on it.

Meanwhile, sustainability commitments, digital transformation, workforce pressures, and stakeholder scrutiny are pushing EHS and risk management to the forefront of the corporate agenda. Reactive compliance models are no longer sufficient. Organizations need unified, auditable systems that connect EHS performance with operational efficiency and long-term financial control.

Operational EHS data—including greenhouse gas emissions, energy performance, and water management metrics—is essential for credible ESG reporting. By integrating data streams, we help ensure disclosures are accurate, traceable, and aligned with investor expectations, reducing exposure to reporting risk.

The path to a greener textile future

Dutch clothing brands faced mounting pressures as parts of their Chinese supply chains struggled to meet evolving labor rights and environmental standards. We conducted detailed assessments and provided structured guidance to help suppliers strengthen chemical management practices and improve worker protection.

Through a targeted corrective action plan, we identified 69 specific environmental and safety improvements. This structured approach strengthened transparency between brands and dye houses, supporting more responsible production practices across the supply chain.

Strengthening ESG reporting across global infrastructure assets

A global infrastructure investment fund sought expertise to help manage sustainability performance across its telecoms, transportation, and energy portfolio companies. We coordinated the client’s Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB) reporting process, overseeing data collection, risk assessments, and third-party verification of more than 80 ESG metrics per company. Working with asset managers and portfolio teams, we strengthened sustainability reporting processes across investments, improved health and safety outcomes, and enabled transparency and investor trust.
