Comprehensive structural engineering for complex infrastructure projects

We provide robust structural engineering services across industries and asset types—from iconic high-rises to mission-critical industrial infrastructure. Using advanced modeling and materials science, we manage seismic risks, material performance, and regulatory compliance with precision. Our approach reduces investment risk, enhances safety and sustainability, and delivers resilient assets built for lasting value.

Managing structural risk and performance challenges

Infrastructure portfolios—including high-rise buildings, bridges, and advanced industrial facilities—must be safe, efficient, and resilient. Achieving this requires strategic alignment between architectural vision and structural design to ensure performance while mitigating risk.

Seismic forces, wind loads, fire exposure, construction defects, overloading, neglect, or material degradation can compromise structural integrity. Preventing progressive collapse and ensuring continuity of performance is critical for long-term safety.

Delivering iconic architecture often involves complex geometries that test the limits of modern analysis. Balancing these forms with strict adherence to global building codes ensures projects remain viable, compliant, and secure. Integrating sustainability into structural design further improves performance and long-term value.

Early coordination between structural systems and building services—including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing—reduces clashes and protects long-term serviceability. Foundation performance is equally critical, as soil behavior forms an integral part of the structural system.

Addressing these challenges ensures structural design protects investment, overall value, and performance.

Structural engineering impact across global industries

We address complex geometries and climate-related risks through advanced structural engineering. Our global projects are designed to deliver measurable outcomes that improve safety, efficiency, and sustainability.

Strengthening ESG reporting across global infrastructure assets

A global infrastructure investment fund sought expertise to help manage sustainability performance across its telecoms, transportation, and energy portfolio companies. We coordinated the client’s Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB) reporting process, overseeing data collection, risk assessments, and third-party verification of more than 80 ESG metrics per company. Working with asset managers and portfolio teams, we strengthened sustainability reporting processes across investments, improved health and safety outcomes, and enabled transparency and investor trust.

Securing the next generation of European energy

Energy company Plug is developing a green hydrogen production facility in the Port of Antwerp. We are guiding the company through the entire permit process for the construction and operation of the 100-megawatt plant, including the required energy study and stakeholder coordination.

Expected in 2027, the facility will produce approximately 35 tons of green hydrogen per day, contributing to Europe’s energy transition.

Ensdorf coal‑fired power plant remediation

Arcadis managed the complex remediation, dismantling, and site preparation of the 53‑hectare former Ensdorf coal‑fired power plant in Saarland. Our work included pollutant cleanup, deconstruction planning, and recycling of materials, preparing the site for sustainable redevelopment.

This remediated site now enables redevelopment for advanced industrial use, supporting semiconductor and mobility technologies and contributing to regional economic growth.
