Power infrastructure for a secure, resilient, and diversified energy future

Power systems are under growing pressure from electrification, industrial expansion, the growth of AI-driven data centers, and aging infrastructure. At the same time, there is a focus on delivering more secure, affordable, and resilient power systems.

Meeting this challenge requires more than additional generation. It requires grid expansion and modernization, storage, system flexibility, and the ability to deliver infrastructure in environments constrained by permitting, supply chains, and workforce availability.

Arcadis works with energy utilities, governments, investors, and developers to address these challenges through power infrastructure consulting and engineering services. From generation and transmission through to storage, permitting, digital optimization, and major program delivery, we help clients in expanding capacity and reducing bottlenecks to build energy systems that are more reliable, adaptable and aligned with long term economic growth.

Preparing for the future of power

Our clients generate, transmit, and distribute electricity generated from sources including fossil fuels, hydrogen, nuclear, hydro, wind, and solar. Many operate complex power generation assets that underpin economic growth, digital services, and everyday life.

The energy landscape, however, is evolving. Electrification is increasing across sectors and industrial activity is intensifying. Rapid demand growth from energy-intensive industries—particularly data centers supporting the rise of artificial intelligence—is accelerating the shift. Meeting this demand requires urgent diversification of energy generation and supply, with a focus on adding new power sources that are sustainable, economic, and efficient.

New renewable generation remains critical, but so do transmission, storage, local system flexibility, and the emerging role of nuclear in providing stable, low-carbon baseload supply.
