Rebuilding Notre Dame Cathedral through restoration and resilience
Notre Dame Cathedral is one of the most iconic examples of Gothic architecture in the world and one of the most visited landmarks in Europe. Apart from the Eiffel Tower, the church remains the most recognized symbol of Paris.
In 2019, a devastating fire broke out in the roof of the cathedral, and people around the world watched live as firefighters worked to contain the blaze. Though the damage was extensive, the church’s main structure survived—making the Notre Dame restoration effort one of the most significant cultural projects of the century.
Arcadian Olivier de Chalus was not only on site during the fire but also went on to play an important role in the Notre Dame reconstruction and the broader Notre Dame Cathedral restoration project. His contribution to rebuilding Notre Dame has helped preserve its heritage for future generations.
