Front view of the village street enhancement

Development Victoria delivering on behalf of City of Melbourne recently transformed Village Street, Docklands, into a green and pedestrian-friendly public space. The work saw Village Street open to northbound traffic only between Fishplate Lane and Bourke Street, improving safety and pedestrian amenity along the café and dining strip. Green spaces were introduced through planter beds and new trees, with additional seating, lighting, and biking amenities also included in the upgrade.

Now a shared zone for pedestrians and vehicles, Village Street will be able to host activities and events, including festivals and live performances, creating value for the surrounding community.

Arcadis provided Superintendent services to Development Victoria to ensure the objectives of a modified road space, integration to existing site conditions, provision of additional street furniture and landscaping were appropriately delivered.

Outcomes
