South Australia - Arcadis, the leading global Design & Consultancy firm for natural and built assets, today announced it will support the development of a new LNG-to-power project in South Australia.
Venice Energy is planning to create a 300-500-Megawatt gas-fired power project to support South Australia. Arcadis will deliver a bankable feasibility study that will lead to the successful delivery of the station and associated infrastructure.
The proposed LNG-to-power project will provide additional capacity to the local market.
John Nicholson, Business Leader Project Management, Infrastructure & Industrials Australia Pacific, Arcadis: “It’s incredibly important that we look to create sustainable and resilient power sources in South Australia to meet the State’s growing needs.
“We are confident that our feasibility study will show that once developed, this power station will go a long way to improve the quality of life for South Australians and support the State’s power demands,” Nicholson said.
The concept is to create a gas-fired power station, LNG receiving/storing and re-gasification infrastructure, LNG and/or Floating Storage Re-Gasification
Unit (FSRU) berthing infrastructure, natural gas supply and export pipeline, as well as grid connection infrastructure.
The power station is envisaged to operate as a mid-merit plant and generate a nominal 300 - 500 MW of electricity. The fuel source will be LNG delivered via a carrier to a FSRU. LNG re-gasification will also take place on-board the FSRU.
