Developed in collaboration with over 70 global business and adaptation experts, this guide provides a four-step process for businesses looking to start their adaptation journey or looking to enhance their current strategy. This addresses the critical need for businesses to move beyond identifying climate risks to effectively planning for and addressing them.

Climate: Physical Risk and Resilience in Value Chains

This resource aims to support meaningful discussions between CEOs and C-Suite executives on managing physical risks across value chains, an increasing concern among Boards and investors. This work draws on insights from over 30 interviews with corporates, experts, and financial institutions. Industry was engaged through the collaboration and input from the Sustainability Committee of the Federation of European Risk Management Associations FERMA) and the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP).

Nature: Nature Action Portal

WBCSD launched a new digital resource to help companies turn ambition into measurable action and direct investment toward solutions that credibly contribute to halting and reversing nature loss by 2030. Co-created with more than 100 leading companies, 6 service providers, and dozens of external partners, the Portal is a resource supporting sustainability practitioners to explore actions, identify relevant metrics and targets, and align with key nature-related frameworks.

As the cost of inaction continues to grow, the economic case for investing in Nature-based Solutions as a form of climate adaptation becomes more compelling. This insight focused specifically on the business case for Nature-based Solutions for physically protecting commercial buildings and infrastructure.

Built Environment: Embodied Carbon Alignment

The built environment is at the forefront of the climate challenge, with embodied carbon from construction materials representing a significant share of global emissions. Technical recommendations developed under WBCSD by a global cohort of industry leaders were designed to help practitioners, owners, and policymakers use Building Information Modeling (BIM) to lower carbon emissions from the earliest stages of design.

Built Environment: Circular Transition Indicators

Buildings account for 50% of global material use, yet only 10% of materials re-enter the economy after demolition. At the same time, regulatory pressures, investor expectations and market demand for sustainable and circular business models are accelerating. Building on WBCSD’s globally recognized Circular Transition Indicators (CTI), CTI for Buildings adopts an extensive list of metrics that helps companies to set roadmaps and targets to reduce their embodied carbon emissions.

Transport & Mobility: Advancing zero emission vehicles

The ZEV-EMI Mexico Partnership, which unites companies across the transportation value chain to advance electromobility in Mexico, is forming a Collective Action & Investment Alliance to leverage the collective demand for 17,000 ZEVs in Mexico by 2030. The new alliance seeks to co-invest in electric vehicles, charging infrastructure, and renewable energy, driving Mexico’s transition to clean transport and economic growth.
