Advances in Remediation Solutions Winter 2020 features nature-based remediation systems

The newest installment of the regular technical column entitled “Advances in Remediation Solutions” is available in Groundwater Monitoring & Remediation, the official publication of the National Ground Water Association. This edition features the use of natural systems in remediation engineering and site restoration. Series corresponding author John Horst collaborated with Arcadis team members Sara Drane and Jessica Gattenby, to explore the role various natural systems can play in site restoration and waste management. The team specifically focuses on ex-situ nature-based treatment techniques, including engineered wetlands, plant-based water management and integrated natural systems specifically tailored to complex contaminants.

This quarterly technical series has been hosted in Groundwater Monitoring & Remediation since 2007. Topics have covered a broad range of remediation and site characterization technology, hydrogeology and modeling, geochemistry, and digital service transformation. Upcoming topics in 2020 will address new technical advancements related to PFAS, digital innovation, and new modeling approaches for remedy optimization.
