Arcadis Selected by Atlanta Regional Commission to Deliver Digital and Equitable Mobility Solutions in the US state of Georgia

  • Funded by the Georgia Department of Transportation, the program aims to change commuter behavior by leveraging digital solutions to encourage uptake of more sustainable transport alternatives
  • Latest win combines Arcadis’ Mobility expertise with technology driven capabilities of new Intelligence Global Business Area to help improve customer experience

September 26, 2023 – Arcadis, a leading global design and consultancy organization for natural and built assets, today announced it has been selected to provide program management services for the Georgia Commute Options (GCO) program; a Transportation Demand Management (TDM) program funded by the Georgia Department of Transportation and managed by the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC). The GCO program is focused on reducing the number of single-occupant vehicles in the 20-county Atlanta region by offering more sustainable and affordable commuting options, such as public transit, teleworking, carpooling, vanpooling, walking, and biking.

Drawing on its global and local experience in all aspects of TDM delivery, Arcadis will provide a range of program management services to promote alternative commuting options, including strategic advertising and marketing campaigns, innovation and technology in the form of data analysis and digital dashboarding, as well as equity planning, community outreach initiatives and partnerships with local business, government, and industry organizations.

Additionally, Arcadis will leverage the technology-driven capabilities of its new Intelligence Global Business Area, following last year’s acquisition of IBI Group, to enhance GCO’s existing customer-facing digital tools, which include ride-matching services and incentive programs, to help ensure the program’s continued success.

Greg Steele, Global President of Mobility at Arcadis, said: “Transport is one of the largest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions globally and, as we rapidly approach 2050 net zero targets, cities around the world need to play their part in prioritizing sustainable, convenient, and affordable commuting alternatives. The Georgia Commute Options program is an exciting example of how we can use technology to plan for and incentivize change, by providing a range of more accessible, user-friendly transport options that are geared directly towards meeting the needs of a city’s inhabitants.”
