The solution
Arcadis will digitize all Flemish tunnels in an intelligent and dynamic 3D model, a digital twin, on which it will base its maintenance, renovation and safety advice.

The challenge
The Flemish authorities’ Wegen en Verkeer agency is responsible for the management of all major road tunnels in the region, many of which are part of the trans-European road network. There more than 20 tunnels in total. In the years to come, the agency wants to concentrate heavily on the renovation and smarter management of its tunnel assets, thanks to the latest digital tools.
The solution
AWV relies on Arcadis to guide it in this major renovation mission. Arcadis is starting with the digital inventory of all tunnel plans in an intelligent and dynamic 3D BIM model. This digital twin allows for renovations to be prepared in the greatest detail and for smarter maintenance according to the latest asset management principles. It will also conduct additional research and follow-ups to update safety and renovation records.
