Education & Skills Funding Agency

Arcadis has worked with the Education & Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) across all major programmes since its inception. We have a sizeable, multi-disciplinary capability organised to serve ESFA capital projects, programmes and key initiatives anywhere in England. This extends to Responsible Bodies who wish to apply an ESFA approach.

Providing innovative solutions to create the best possible learning environments.

Our ESFA and Education sector experts have delivered the single largest amount of capital projects in recent time – providing innovative built asset solutions to creating the best possible learning environments.

Our schools are faced with a growing pupil population, which is now extending from the Primary into the Secondary sector, along with an ageing, less sustainable estate, at a time when revenue budgets are tight.

Our work focuses on delivering the best value solutions that enable pupils to meet their full potential. To date our specialist teams have delivered more than £1.4bn of capital investment, typically opening 12-15 new or refurbished schools a year since 2012.

Working with the ESFA as a partner we have supported key programmes including:

  • Priority Schools Building Programme 1 (including Private Finance schools)
  • Property Data Survey Programme
  • Free Schools (waves 4 to date)
  • Priority Schools Building Programme 2
  • Condition Data Collection programme

Our ESFA multi-disciplinary teams encompass a full suite of services including:

  • Programme Management
  • Project Management
  • Quantity Surveying
  • Building Surveying
  • Architectural
  • Mechanical and Electrical Engineering
  • Civil and Structural Engineering
  • Environmental and Geotechnical Engineering
  • Educational consultancy
  • Asbestos
  • CDM and Health and Safety

We offer sector-leading expertise across the full spectrum of primary, secondary and special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) requirements, supporting teaching and learning needs for the young people of today and tomorrow.
