As one of Australia’s fastest growing regions and the largest non-capital city in the country, the Gold Coast needed a comprehensive integrated transport system to keep the city growing.

Queensland’s iconic Gold Coast is one of Australia’s fastest growing regions, the largest non-capital city in the country and an international tourist destination that needs a comprehensive integrated transport system to keep the city growing.

Using a multi-criteria analysis approach, Arcadis developed a multi-modal transport study as part an integrated strategy featuring a light rail system that can support the region until at least 2031.

The strategy is projected to quadruple the amount of people using public transport, double the active transport mode share by 2031, and minimize the economic and social costs associated with increased travel time and road traffic congestion
