Arcadis wins MEED Quality Awards for Projects

Awards demonstrate Arcadis' commitment to client focus and on providing exceptional levels of service

Two Arcadis projects were chosen as a ‘National Winner’ at this year’s MEED Quality Awards for Projects, while a third project was ‘Highly Commended’. The winners were selected by a distinguished panel of judges, based on evidence of engineering and construction excellence, as well as the economic, social and environmental impact of the project.

In Saudi Arabia, Arcadis’ work with the National Water Company to develop four steel reservoirs in Makkah, was chosen as the ‘Water Project of the Year’. This scheme has helped to significantly increase water supply in Makkah, enabling the city to cope with periods of increased demand on resources like it sees during Hajj.

In the UAE, our work on City Walk was selected as ‘Mixed-Use Project of the Year’ ahead of stiff competition. Arcadis formed part of a consortium on this project alongside colleagues from Parsons and WSP|PB. City Walk is a new urban living concept from Meraas, which offers a mix of residential, retail, food & beverage, and health and wellness options within a unique outdoor community.

Finally, our work with Gasco on the Integrated Gas Development -  Expansion (IGD-E) onshore and offshore pipeline between Umm Shaif and Habshan, was highly commended in the ‘Oil & Gas Project of the Year’ category. This landmark scheme will help to increase natural gas export capacity in the UAE. Arcadis has been carrying out health, safety and environment assessments on this project.

Graham Reid, CEO, Arcadis Middle East said: “Across the Middle East, the vision and ambition of the leaders translates into some incredible projects for the construction sector. It has been an absolute privilege for Arcadis to support on the design and delivery of many of these schemes and I’m delighted to see our focus and commitment to helping clients achieve their goals, has been recognised by our peers within the industry. Well done to all colleagues that have been involved on these projects.”

Richard Thompson, Editorial Director, MEED commented: “The GCC projects market continues to be a key driver for regional growth. We commend the national winners for their commitment to project excellence and hope that their unwavering commitment to quality will inspire others to follow their lead as more projects are developed and completed in the future.”

The two projects selected as a ‘National Winner’ will now compete in the regional finals against those projects that were successful in the other GCC countries. The regional winners will be announced at a prestigious awards ceremony that will take place in Dubai on May 3rd, as part of the 2017 MEED Construction Leadership Summit.
