Arcadis supports Amsterdam trade mission to GCC region

Arcadis is delighted to support the City of Amsterdam on their first ever official trade mission to the GCC region.

Arcadis is delighted to support the City of Amsterdam on their first ever official trade mission to the GCC region. The visit will take place between January 15-18 and will focus on strengthening economic and cultural ties between Amsterdam and cities in the Middle East.

The delegation will include city officials, cultural organizations, start-ups, and the official investment agency for the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area. The group, led by Kajsa Ollongren, Deputy Mayor for the City of Amsterdam, will visit Doha, Dubai and Abu Dhabi throughout the week.

A number of meetings and seminars have been set up within each city to exchange knowledge on a range of areas including smart urban innovation, promote new business opportunities, and establish partnerships between Dutch and GCC firms that are looking to expand their operations overseas.

Arcadis has been active in the Middle East region for over 50 years and is helping to facilitate connections between the delegation and local clients in both Qatar and the UAE. A key highlight of the program was a special VIP dinner in both Doha and Dubai, where guests were treated to a unique musical performance by the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra (KCO).

Kajsa Ollongren, Deputy Mayor, City of Amsterdam said: “Arcadis is a good example of a Dutch company that is well established in the GCC region, and their support in facilitating connections is tremendously helpful to our delegation. I feel confident that this trade mission will lead to new economic and cultural partnerships between the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area and the GCC region.”

Jack Overkamp, Managing Director, Arcadis Qatar said: “We’re very proud of the work that we’re doing to help improve quality of life in Qatar with leading clients like Ashghal, Kahramaa and Qatar Rail. We recently hosted a delegation from Kahramaa in Amsterdam where we took them to see a number of water management programs. This type of knowledge share and exchange of ideas between Dutch and Qatari firms is something we’re keen to promote even further in the future.”
