Within Malaysia’s current Economic Transformation Program (ETP), improving Kuala Lumpur has been a key driver for the country. With that in mind the government set a goal to transform Kuala Lumpur into a world-class city by 2020 that appeals to both residents and tourists alike.
Since the ETP was launched in 2010, over 40 government agencies and private sector firms have been involved and substantial progress has been made from investment in improved rail linkages to planting 100,000 new trees within the capital. An investment is being made at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, with Arcadis as the master-planner, on a ‘cargo city’, which will link national and international supply chains with global hubs.
