Job description

The Finance Application Manager SAP BPC operates within the Group Consolidation & Reporting Team and is part of the Business Intelligence team. He/she supports the Finance department by means of creating and maintaining effective and efficient management information and consolidation tools. These tools will be used to provide the Executive Board and Senior Management with the information needed to take the decisions, and will also form the basis for the external reporting requirements. Additionally, the Finance Application Manager SAP BPC supports the Arcadis operating companies by means of internal reporting, help-desk function, and application support.

Arcadis’ Consolidation tool - SAP BPC

Working together within a team of three SAP BPC specialists on:

  • Maintenance
    • Daily maintenance of the consolidation tool – SAP BPC;
    • Create, update and maintain proper user profiles/ consolidation & reporting structures in SAP BPC;
    • Responsible for Continuous Improvement Initiatives on our current Consolidation and Reporting system;
  • Communications
    • Main point of contact for the SAP BPC (Outlook soft) user community (Helpdesk);
    • Linking pin between Finance and IT, also in regular contact with the business;
    • Participate in SAP BPC User platform and contacts with external consultants;
  • Design, Build & test
    • Translating functional needs of the user community towards a technical solution;
    • Identify business requirements, and design, develop and maintain new functionalities in the SAP BPC environment, in the areas of financial and management accounting, budget and forecasting models, closing processes and procedures and consolidation;
    • Take the lead in projects from a content as well from project-management point of view;
    • Develop solutions for dashboard reporting based on SAP BPC database environment;
    • Other improvement Projects; e.g. implementation new Plan Forms, continuous Request for changes (RFCs);

Arcadis’ Group Financial Consolidation:

The financial consolidation of Arcadis’ (financial + Management); whereby OpCos submit their local input via our consolidation tool (SAP BPC) and the person in this position needs to focus on:

  • Managing the full consolidation process (estimates, quarterly actual etc.);
  • Data quality of OpCo submissions (achieve first time right reporting);
    • Quality assurance of financial reporting received from subsidiaries; establish key relationships with a region team;
    • Provide pro-active analyses on reported data to indicate developments, trends and issues in the reported data;
    • Through analysis and review, dig deeper in the data reported and improve the quality of the reports including commentary;
  • Timely submissions (to ensure our Corporate deadlines);
    • Contribute strongly to monthly submissions and annual book close as well as providing information for interim reports;
    • Compile financial as well as operational reporting;
  • Responsible for the maintenance and development of ad-hoc reports for Management;
  • Further automation of the consolidation process (enhance reporting via SAP BPC instead of Excel).
  • Disclosure Management; full support on this tool, which is used to create drafts of the Financial Statements in our Annual Report and Accounts.

Requirements

The candidate should have a Bachelor degree with a proficient background in Accounting and Reporting and a minimum of 6 years’ experience in technical consolidation solutions, preferably gained in an international (listed) company.

And specific experience and competencies for this position:

  • Strong knowledge in the area of consolidation, cashflow reporting, planning, forecasting and budgeting;
  • Excellent (IFRS) accounting skills;
  • Profound knowledge of SAP BPC for Microsoft or Netweaver, including the abilities to build reports, input schedules and EVDRE’s;
  • Knowledge of Script Logic, Dimension Formulas and Business rules;
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office Excel (including VBA) and database skills;

  • Possesses strong analytical and problem solving skills;
  • A strong aptitude for numbers & accuracy and be able to perform under stress & work within strict deadlines;
  • Experience/ exposure to the accounting and forecasting activities;
  • Strong Project Management skills;
  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to communicate effectively with several stakeholders;
  • Positive and critical attitude;
  • Willingness to work flexible hours based on business needs;
  • Verbal and written fluency in English.
