Over the 10 years Bruno has worked at Arcadis, he has seen the company evolve from a fairly localized entity in Belgium to a truly international organization. This shift has changed the nature of his role into one that brings him great excitement for the future: “The growth of Arcadis has offered many opportunities for those of us who seek them. During a typical day of meetings, I talk to colleagues in the UK, US, Germany, Netherlands, and Hong Kong. It adds an inspiring extra dimension to my job.”
“Working across borders is both challenging and inspiring.”
What do you love about working for Arcadis?
“I’m part of a great team at Arcadis, with an excellent spirit. Going out for lunch or for some after-work activities allows the team to bond and creates a positive environment. I feel I can rely on my colleagues to help me out, and vice versa.”
How does Arcadis leadership support you?
“Being able to pick up the phone and have a conversation with my own director, or another country’s manager, or even the European leadership board, drives me to engage more with the business’ objectives.”
How do you see Arcadis values coming to life?
“Days do get busy, and I’m glad to be in control of my own schedule. Ensuring time is available for family, friends and hobbies is a concern, but one Arcadis alleviates by providing flexible work time and workplaces.”
What are your 3 favorite projects?
- 1. An international bank
“This was the first very large international project I was involved in. The goal was to drive energy efficiency for the technical installations. The work allowed me to spend some time with our specialist US colleagues and was a true learning experience.”
2. General consultancy
“Acting as a consultant, I regularly get to assist colleagues in our other European operating companies with specific questions they have. It gives me the opportunity to broaden my network and expands my insight into the European mission critical market.”
3. A global IT company
“Being a part of a mission critical engineering project for one of the largest IT companies in the world has been eye-opening. Being in a position to consult for them on different sites has helped me get a better understanding of their needs and internal operations to better serve their projects.”
