During the course of a single dry season, Arcadis provided program and construction management service to rehabilitate Echo Park Lake, thereby improving water quality in both Echo Lake and the Los Angeles River Watershed while maintaining flood control.  Through Arcadis’ deliberate and collaborative design process, the Echo Park Lake Rehabilitation Project resulted in not only the engineering overhaul of the lake, but also the cultural and recreational rebirth of the park.


  • 13-acre urban lake surrounded by 16 acres of recreational open space
  • Part of the $500 million Proposition O clean water program to reduce pollution and conserve water throughout Los Angeles
  • Received Project of the Year Awards from the American Public Works Association, American Society of Civil Engineers and Engineering News-Record.
