Applying innovation and expert knowledge to deliver independent verification services for the Westgate Bridge.

Rehabilitating the 170,000 vehicle a day, 2.6 kilometer Westgate Bridge to carry ten lanes of traffic instead of the existing eight lanes also meant strengthening the defining long steel box cable stay spans, and improving access roads either side of the Lower Yarra River.

Providing independent verification services for early stage, design and delivery, Arcadis assembled a team with experience from several major geographical markets, enabling timely advice, knowledge of world’s best practice, and the provision of sound technical review services. Innovation and expert knowledge helped the project stand out, including the development of bridge specific live loads modelling and specialist bridge structural modelling software.
