Sydney Metro, Underground Station Design and Technical Services

Arcadis and joint venture partner Mott MacDonald are the joint lead designers in the METRON consortium working on the Underground Station Design and Technical Services (USDTS) contract as part of Stage 2 of the Sydney Metro project. With 31 stations and 66km of new metro rail, Sydney Metro is Australia’s biggest public transport project. Stage 2 will include a 30 kilometre extension of metro rail under Sydney Harbour and through new CBD stations.

Making Collaboration Smarter

Wulkuraka New Generation Rollingstock (NGR) Maintenance Centre, Queensland

Arcadis set a new Australian benchmark for the use of Building Information Modeling - or BIM – as part of the Wulkuraka New Generation Rollingstock (NGR) Maintenance Centre, a state of the art facility developed to service and maintain 75 new, high tech passenger trains. For the first time Arcadis developed a unified platform able to integrate seven different design software packages. Arcadis’ innovative use of BIM delivered widespread benefits, including better asset management, cost accounting, environmental performance, productivity, safety and fewer errors.

Victorian Regional Rail Link

Melbourne is one of Australia’s fastest growing cities, and a proposal to build a brand new rail corridor connecting communities on the western fringe underpins rapid population and economic growth for decades to come.

Working with 22 public and industry stakeholders to deliver the biggest rail infrastructure project in Victoria in 80 years meant new approaches to project management, design processes and built environment solutions, including smarter responses to community, environmental, heritage and cultural conditions.

A focus on safety

Level Crossing Removal Project

The level crossing removal project will result in the removal of 50 dangerous level crossings in Melbourne by 2022, which will improve safety, reduce congestion and enable more frequent train services.
Arcadis was appointed to Package 2 of the Program as part of the FMBH Alliance, for the removal of four level crossings at Blackburn Rd in Blackburn, Main Rd in St Albans, Furlong Rd in St Albans and Heatherdale Rd in Mitcham.
