Arcadis appointed to Sydney CBD and South East Light Rail project

Sydney, New South Wales, Australia - Arcadis, in association with APP Corporation, has recently been appointed as Independent Certifier for Sydney’s $A2.1B CBD and South East Light Rail (CSELR) project. The appointment was made by Transport for NSW and ALTRAC, the PPP consortium tasked with building and running the rail link.

Expanding light rail in Sydney to transform the city and provide a step change in our city’s public transport capability, reliability and capacity.

The CSELR project is a new light rail to connect Circular Quay, the CBD and the south-east including Moore Park and the University of NSW, plus the creation of a pedestrian precinct along George Street between Bathurst and Hunter streets.

 As Independent Certifier (IC) Arcadis, in association with APP Corporation, will be required to review and verify the design, procurement, construction and commissioning of the light rail and associated infrastructure is being built according to the contract documentation by ALTRAC Light Rail consortium. The ALTRAC Light Rail consortium is made up of Transdev Sydney, Alstom Transport Australia, Acciona Infrastructure Australia and Capella Capital.

Arcadis and APP are leaders in the provision of independent assurance services for major projects across Australia, and have worked on infrastructure projects including the Brisbane Airport Link, Adelaide Desalination Project, Sydney’s North West Rail Link and the NorthConnex road project, plus Seaford Rail extension in South Australia. Arcadis and APP have most recently provided Independent Certification services for Stage 1 of the Gold Coast Rapid Transit project, a light rail link connecting the new Gold Coast University Hospital in Southport to Pacific Fair in Broadbeach via Surfers Paradise.

 The CSELR project is expected to generate 10, 000 jobs during construction and deliver over $4B in benefits for public transport customers. The light rail project is due to be completed in 2018, with services scheduled to commence in early 2019.
