The Concrete Institute of Australia presents a seminar exploring the currently under construction WestConnex project, featuring three of Arcadis' industry experts.
Daniel Thomy, Principal Engineer, Jarrod Hitchcox, Associate Technical Director, and John Merrick, Technical Director, will present insights into the key structures of Stage 1B of the project, with a focus on minimising major structures in urban settings.
As part of the presentation, Daniel Thomy will outline the design of the unique Parramatta Road Ventilation Facility excavation retention structures, while John Merrick will explain the details of the Parramatta Road Ventilation Facility building structure as well as the Underwood Road Ventilation Facility and Jarrod Hitchcox will detail the approach adopted in designing the cut and cover structures for the hydrocarbon fire.
Arcadis were appointed to provide civil design services for the WestConnex New M4 project in a joint venture with AECOM. As well as the design of the excavation retention system for the PRVF, Arcadis and AECOM delivered geometric and road engineering designs, pavement design, flood assessment and drainage design, traffic engineering services, lighting design, utilities coordination and structural design of the bridges, retaining walls, cut and cover tunnels and buildings.
