Improving quality of life in Hong Kong, Macau & China South

Keeping Asia's World City Competitive

Hong Kong is a world class city for financial services, trade, tourism and culture. Operating as a Special Administrative Region (SAR) of the People’s Republic of China, it has its own government and business friendly environment that attracts significant foreign and domestic investment alike.
The city’s public transport system is recognized as amongst the best in the world and serves a densely populated area that work longer hours on average than many other cities. Hong Kong continues to invest in its infrastructure base with new MTR lines, high-speed rail links to China, bridges to Macau and expansion of the existing international airport already in development. In support of this drive to continually improve transportation infrastructure, Arcadis designed an extension of the Kwun Tong Line under one of the city’s largest private housing estates.

The city has in place its Hong Kong 2030 plan which sets out a vision to be Asia’s ‘World City’. Central to this is creating a quality living environment, improving economic competitiveness, and addressing some of the future challenges facing the city. To improve tourism and assist in increasing competitiveness, Hong Kong chose Arcadis to consult on a three-year strategy for the Hong Kong Jockey Club.  Over the next 3 years the Club expects to spend over HK$16 billion on construction projects across an extremely diverse portfolio and will provide additional jobs and be a major attraction for the city.

Hong Kong’s wet climate and geographical position makes it prone to tropical cyclones, whilst a limited supply of land, a lack of affordable housing and a growing elderly population are just some of the issues the city will need to address over the coming years. Arcadis is looking forward to consulting with the city on these increasing challenges.

Arcadis is pleased to partner with and improve quality of life in Hong Kong and the greater Pearl River Delta.
